club label Boots and Babes Square Dance Club

About

Boots & Babes Square Dance Club of Livingston, Texas is part of the Sam Houston Square and Round Dance Association (SHSRDA for short).

The club was formed in 1979, with 29 members in the first graduating class. Alton and Mona Land were the first presidents, and the club caller was Roger Hopper. John Aden started calling for the club after Roger’s death in 1990, and called for us for 16 years. Mike Burnham took over as club caller when John retired, then K.O. Jeanes became our new club caller in 2007, when Mike had to leave us. We are an active, stable club, and have an active membership list of 30+ dancers.

Our club hosts an annual Spring Jubilee, and takes part in special events in Livingston and surrounding communities. The club first danced in the Fire Hall over the old fire station. When that building was demolished, the club danced at the St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, and then moved to the Escapees RV Park, where we danced for several years in the Clubhouse during the summer and in the Activities Center during the winter months.

After a couple of years at the Lake Livingston Inn, we have recently moved to a new dance hall.  We now make our home at a wonderful new location at the La Casita Mexican Restaurant, 125 S. Washington Ave, (Business 59-South of Courthouse).  We are truly excited about our new "home".

Here is a map on how to find the new location from our old location at Lake Livingston Inn and instructions:

Head north on Hwy. 59. Take the Business 59 N (Washington Ave.) exit. Business 59 will curve to the left at the Exxon Station. Continue north on 59, you’ll pass Garner Street, then the restaurant is on the right a couple of blocks past Garner. Look for a white brick building and the La Casita sign. Park in front or behind the building and use the entry door in the rear of the restaurant.
